Harry Potter is the only child of James and Lily Potter, and is famous for defeating Lord Voldemort. He is also the only known Master of Death, having possessed the three Deathly Hallows at one point. Harry was sorted into Gryffindor house at Hogwarts, and played as Seeker for his house’s Quidditch team. He was also a Triwizard champion and one of the original founders of Dumbledore’s Army. Harry is often noted as closely resembling his father, except for his green eyes which he inherited from his mother and the lightning-bolt shaped scar on his forehead.

Neville Longbottom was a Gryffindor student in the same year as Harry Potter. After his parents were admitted to St. Mungo’s, he was raised by his grandmother, who throughout his early life constantly told him that he wasn’t good enough or living up to his parents’ accomplishments. Neville was a member of Dumbledore’s Army and helped re-build the group when Severus Snape became headmaster of Hogwarts. During the Battle of Hogwarts, he destroyed the seventh and final Horcrux by beheading the snake Nagini. Neville later becomes the Herbology professor at Hogwarts and marries Hannah Abbott.

On July 7, 2011, the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 world premiere was held in London, during which J.K. Rowling gave an emotional speech thanking the fans and those involved in creating the Harry Potter films.

Lily Luna Potter is the youngest child of Harry and Ginny Potter. She was named after her paternal grandmother, and her parents’ good friend Luna Lovegood. She and her cousin, Hugo Weasley, are around the same age and seem to be quite good friends. Like her mother twenty-eight years earlier, Lily was jealous about her older brothers going to Hogwarts.

Jul 28, 2012: Harry Potter in the Real World - Flying Broomstick
The new Harry Potter film hits theaters today, and it got me wondering whether it’s possible, using current technology, to make a broomstick fly. I hit the interwebs to find out.
Jet engines are too bulky to fit on a broomstick, and probably don’t accelerate quite fast enough to zip you off the ground from a standstill. The equipment that operates maglev trains could do the trick, but your travels would be confined to a track. Scientists have used an electrostatic chamber to levitate globs of metal, and an acoustic field to levitate mice, but neither of those options would seem to apply here. One flying broomstick message board I came across suggested manipulating the fourth dimension’s magnetic flux, which he called hyperflux, but I don’t know how feasible an option that is.
The best option I came across was this YouTube video of a kid “flying” his broomstick. Anyone with a tripod and a camera can do this. Just straddle a broomstick, hop, and get your friend to snap a photo while you’re midair. Stream all the pictures together and, presto! Flying broomstick. And, judging from this and similar videos on YouTube, mixing in some sweet techno music seems to help the illusion.

Albus Severus Potter is the second son of Harry and Ginny Potter, and was named in memory of Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape. He is the only child of Harry to have inherited his green eyes. Albus admitted his fears about being sorted into Slytherin house to his father, who reassured him that the Sorting Hat would take his choice into account if he wanted it to.

James Sirius Potter is the eldest child of Harry and Ginny Potter, and the godson of Ron and Hermione Weasley. He interrupted his cousin Victoire snogging Teddy Lupin at Platform 9 ¾, and then ran off to tell his family. He was disappointed when they did not react strongly to his story. According to J.K. Rowling, James at some point stole the Marauder’s Map from his father’s desk drawer.

Hugo Weasley is the son of Ron and Hermione Weasley, and the younger brother of Rose Weasley. He is around the same age as his cousin Lily Potter, the daughter of Harry and Ginny Potter. Hugo accompanied his parents to see off his sister and cousins to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
