May 29, 2012: Character of the Day - Poppy Pomfrey

Poppy Pomfrey is the school nurse in charge of the hospital wing for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She does everything she can to ensure her patients make a full recovery and hardly asks questions on how they got their injuries despite how suspicious they may seem. During the Battle of Hogwarts, Madam Pomfrey organised the evacuation of underage students and tended to the wounds of those injured.

May 28, 2012: Character of the Day - Gregorovitch

Gregorovitch is a European wand-maker who created Viktor Krum’s wand. He came into the possession of the Elder Wand for a period of time before it was stolen from him by Gellert Grindelwald. Gregorovitch was tortured and killed by Lord Voldemort after his mind was read through the means of Legilimency to confirm his story. He is described as having “pure, white hair and a thick bushy beard.”

May 27, 2012: J.K. Rowling - 2008 South Bank Show Awards

At the 2008 South Bank Show Awards, J.K. Rowling was honoured with the award for Outstanding Achievement. She was introduced by Lord Richard Attenborough who gave a funny and heart-warming speech about her achievements for literature.

May 27, 2012: Character of the Day - Amelia Bones

Amelia Bones was the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and presided over the disciplinary hearing of Harry Potter. She was murdered, presumably by Lord Voldemort, during the summer holidays before Harry’s sixth year at Hogwarts. Madam Bones is described in the books as being a broad, square-jawed witch with very short gray hair, thick eyebrows, and a monocle.

myHogwarts is an upcoming fan-made social network for Harry Potter fans, to be opened to the public in June 2012.

Like traditional social networks, we allow you to add friends, have profiles, send messages, write on walls and everything you’re used to. What those networks don’t offer, however, is the ability to meet new Potter fans from around the world, socialize in your House Common Room, collect Chocolate Frog Cards, listen to an all-wizarding radio station, read and write books for the Hogwarts Library, meet other fans in your local area, take in-character Hogwarts courses and much more.

May 26, 2012: Character of the Day - Alicia Spinnet

Alicia Spinnet was a Chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch team during Harry Potter’s first five years at Hogwarts, and had been a reserve player the previous year before Harry joined the team. She was a member of Dumbledore’s Army and was part of the group who returned to Hogwarts in order to fight in the Battle of Hogwarts, during which she and Fred Weasley guarded one of the entrances to the secret passages into the castle.

May 25, 2012: Character of the Day - Hokey

Hokey was an old house-elf that served Hepzibah Smith. Her memory allowed Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore to get a glimpse of the visit Tom Marvolo Riddle made two days before Hepzibah was poisoned to death. Tom magically modified her memory to make her think that she was responsible for Hepzibah’s death by poisoning her mistress’s evening cocoa. Hokey later died of mental anguish induced by the Dementors in Azkaban.

May 24, 2012: Character of the Day - Professor Tofty

Professor Tofty is a member of the Wizarding Examinations Authority. He examined Harry Potter in his Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts practical exams, and supervised his Astronomy practical exam and History of Magic exam. Professor Tofty wore pince-nez glasses, and appeared to be the oldest and baldest examiner.
